Choosing Your Tattoo Design and Where to Put It

Written by sleepger on 6:21 PM

Tattoo Design
You've chosen the artist of your new tattoo, but now the question: what to do and where to put it. While all this is really a matter of personal preference, there are things that may help you make that decision.
The pain factor, the question I get asked most is, "Where is the worst". Well, there is no hard and fast rules on this subject, but based on many opinions over the years, here are some ideas:

Most Painful Areas:
Men - Abdomen, Spine, Chest
Women - Ankle, Spine, Ribcage

Least Painful Areas:
Men - Buttocks, Arm, Back
Women - Abdomen, Buttocks, Thigh, Shoulder

Think about your professionalism It's nice to see that many white-collar professionals to tattoo these days. It is becoming more main-stream and acceptable to all levels of education, background, and professions. Unfortunately, this does not mean that it is acceptable for employers or the professional worker clientelle. Before putting a tattoo in a visible area of your body, you may want to consider how it affects people around you.

Your tattoo is a reflection of you You can take the last tattoo magazine, and you will see some examples of a great work of art of very "frank" tattoos. Demons, serial killers and sexually explicit tattoos can be artistically perfect, but May not how you want people you have seen. Whatever you have tattooed on you is the impression people will make this kind of person you are. While this is not one of your own affairs, but, but, if you want to project a certain image, your tattoos should reflect that.

Design Your Own Tattoo Tips

Tattoos are becoming increasingly common worldwide. Inking a skin is a popular way to honor the people or experiences in one's life or a great way to have a unique work of art memorialized on a skin. The sky really is the limit when it comes to the tattoo design to have inked on your body. There are a number

Do Your Research:

The best way to choose a tattoo design do your research. Looking everywhere from online to the tattoo parlor and businesses. Often you will find free tattoo designs on websites that can help you narrow down your choices and find out what you want on your skin. It is important to take this research seriously: a tattoo is forever.

One of the best places to look for tattoo designs is the Internet. Here you can see everything from famous works of art and examples of different peoples' tattoos. Once you know what interests the eye - whether it is a flower, a symbol, or something more complicated - you can start planning your own tattoo. The more places you look, the more you will know your tastes and preferences.

Once you have some criteria for your tattoo design, you can narrow your design even more. It always helps if you can walk into a tattoo parlor or business with an idea of what you want. You should know as much about the image you want inked as you do the style and precision.

If you like:

One of the first things you should consider whether your tattoo design is where you want the picture or words inked. The location of your tattoo is important because it affects everything from the size of the tattoo design for your work options. Some careers frown on tattoos or view them as unprofessional. So if you are in such a field, you may want to go with a tattoo that can be easily hidden with sleeves or buy wearing a jacket or sweater.

Similarly, the location of your tattoo design affects how it will look. If you want a flower tattoo, it will look differently depending on whether you go to a small table to your ankle or a full on realistic and accurate in your shoulder blades or back. Once you decide on the tattoo's design features, would you give a prospective artist so much more going on.

Designing Your Own Tattoo

Making Long-Lasting Decisions

The first thing to realize when it comes to designing your own tattoo is that it does not mean you have to be able to draw your own tattoo yourself. As a tattoo is a permanent skin mark that will stay with you the rest of your life, it often helps if it relates to you more personally, with the idea that you and your skin art would like to have a long and happy life together. Tattoos often mark a transition or event in our lives, but too often I feel people choose imagery that is too much about the moment in which the event happened and not about remembering this moment for the rest of your life.

Many cultures have tattooing as a component of larger rituals that mark significant passages in life, and many people continue to get tattooed both consciously and unconsciously at important crossroads and moments in their lives. Try to ask yourself why you wish to be tattooed. What will the mark mean to you? Is this something you wish to share or keep more to yourself? Family and work situations should be considered. All this can contribute to the style and placement of your tattoo design. The key here is, if you feel any hesitation or uncertainty, just wait. There is always another time and place for you to get a tattoo. Always. Really.

Incorporate and Collaborate

What is this moment of remembrance about? An event? A person? A pet? A change? Tattoos can be about anything but really they are about you. Very few cultures practice ritualized marking anymore, leaving individuals to make up their own designs instead of having historically and culturally prescribed ones as in the past. Is this about spiritual or personal growth? Designs can be large or small, a choice which can be related to the transition, or not at all. Imagine looking at that part of your body in ten or twenty years and seeing a slightly paler and softer version of the design you are planning. Will your tattoo be someplace that will change shape as you gain or lose weight?

I always find pictures of what I want to get tattooed to show the artist. Textures, colors, gemstones and flowers are easy to bring along to say, "I'd like it to look like this part." Often I have an outline of a symbol. It may not be the exact size, but that's one of those things the artist can handle. I want them to have great references and inspiration, and then draw me something original that expresses part of my emotional, mental and spiritual being. I like to have part of the design firmly set in my mind, but leave elements open for the artist to handle. This way, the two of us create a truly original tattoo that no one else will wear.

How to create my own tattoo

Written by sleepger on 12:16 AM

"Very fulfilling to know that you've created your own self expressive tattoo... you have a sense of ownership and originality to your tattoo."

How I did it: I've designed my own tattoo twice. I highly suggest taking your time with them. For my first tattoo it took me 5 months between conception and then two weeks to get around to creating it. (only took a day or two to get it just right, was very uncomplicated).

However my second one took 2 days of conception and months upon months of perfection. Once perfected. I had made a couple of printed copies in different colors and one of them in outlined format. As well as in digital format on a disk. I took these mediums to the tattoo shop and asked for an appointment and then asked if they could try to improve my existing proof. After a couple of days they had a couple of enhancements. However the artist and I agreed the original was the best.

Lessons & tips: Provide multiple formats and printed copies to take to the tattoo artist if you can. Also take a lot of time in perfecting your final copy.

Resources: Photoshop, prisma color pencils, and a lot of time thinking about what i wanted to portray.

Design your own temporary tattoos

Written by sleepger on 12:32 AM

Design your own temporary tattoos
A fun computer activity for birthday parties and rainy days
by Anjali Kapoor
Creating an interesting activity or loot bag treat for a child's party can be a daunting task. Try something out of the ordinary by making your own family-friendly tattoos for your little one's next birthday bash.

Consider setting up a temporary tattoo station at the party and allow each child to pick an image on the computer. Or design a large amount of temporary tattoos with a birthday theme ahead of time and add them to a party loot bag.

All you need is an inkjet or laser colour printer, a software program with Clip Art images, like Word and special temporary tattoo paper — we found ours online at Bel Decal Inc. Here’s how to make temporary tattoos:

Getting started
To design your own tattoo, go to New > Blank document in Word.
Click Insert > Clip Art. On the right side of your screen a searchable menu will appear. In the Results should be a drop-down menu where you can deselect Photos, Movies and Sounds.
In the Search for: box, type in the image you’d like for your tattoo — heart, butterfly, skull and crossbones — and click Go.
Choosing and sizing your image
Once you have browsed the offerings and decided on an image, double-click on it to move it into your document.
Size your image by dragging the corners. You can copy and paste the image until you’ve filled the document, or search for different images and then repeat the previous steps for adding and sizing.
Note: If your child has a favourite animal, like a pig or rabbit, you can draw the image, use a scanner to save it onto your computer and open it in the Word document by going to Insert > Picture > name of scan.
Depending on the size of your selected tattoo images, you can fit approximately 12 to 15 images on one letter-size page.
Remember to choose images that have very defined lines and colours. Images that are too busy may not look good as a tattoo. A good rule of thumb is to stick to shapes and easy-to-view graphics — for example, a dragon, flower or truck.
Personalizing and printing images
Personalize an image for a birthday party by inserting a child's name or a birthday phrase under each tattoo.

To insert text under an image, select Insert > Text Box > Simple Text Box. Move the box directly under the image, delete the original text, type in the name, and highlight it to select a new font and size.

Once you have created all of your tattoo images, click Print. Under Scale to paper size, click Letter. Note: If you are using text on your tattoos, go into your printer properties and choose the mirror image option. This allows your text to be applied the right way with the tattoo image.

Print a test page on blank paper to make sure you are happy with each tattoo size.

Printing on temporary tattoo paper
Insert one sheet of the water slide paper into the printer, according to package directions and printer orientation. Print one tattoo paper page at a time and hand-feed each sheet into the printer.
Allow each printed sheet of tattoo water slide paper to dry completely. Apply the adhesive sheet of paper to the printed side of the water slide paper. Remove all air bubbles. Use scissors to cut closely around each tattoo.
Follow instructions that come with the temporary tattoo paper for easy application and removal.

Design Your Own Tattoo Angel Tattoos

Angel Tattoos

The angel is a famous and often used the image, especially with tattoos. The designs can vary greatly in size, shape or style. You can see the more traditional way to sweet and innocent or diabolical designs, and offers more well built woman in a less then angelic nature. The angel is traditionally seen as a product of God, the name means messenger or one that is sent. As well as the religious context, the angel is seen as a protector and guardian. Of course, the angel can be seen as a cherub, even with the bow and arrow construction of a Cupid. There are of course also the fallen angel designs, a design that is more macabre and bloodier. It can display the bloody battle between good and evil, between heaven and hell, between God and the Devil.

Because of the huge variations of the design images appear on both men and women, whether they appear in different sizes and many designs. Women's designs tend to be more angelic and pure variants of angel election, while the male designs tend to be more fallen angel type, although these are not hard and fast rules.

The design may indicate the wearer's links to God, but also show darker and more malevolent meanings. One of the most popular uses of the term angel is with the world famous Hells Angels, every sect has its own variation on the shape of the angel, and most members have designed themselves. The basic design of a skull with wings, normally feathered game, in contrast to the more traditional look at angels. The designs vary in size and complexity, and almost all brightly colored and well designed.

Angel tattoos can also be worn as a memorial or as a reminder of a particular event as a birth. They can also be used to celebrate the loss of a loved one, often with names added in the Angel. A common theme is currently the major Anglo-design as the one about David Beckham's back. It is shown as standing with bowed heads and enormous wings. The picture was popular before Beckham, but has become more popular because the image is reminiscent of the angel of the north-eastern statue near Newcastle.

The variants of the angel implies that in some cases just angel wings remain in some pictures. Animals have converted some pictures that make objects such as swords and crosses. With some imagination and some design skills, there are thousands of variations. Of course variations increase with the use of wallpaper and other design combined with the angels. The possibilities are as limited as your imagination and designers.
